Linda Maria Shipp

Linda Marie Shipp, age 86, passed away peacefully at 12:47 p.m. on January 9, 2026, at her home in Pflugerville, Texas surrounded by her loving family. Linda was born on August 21, 1939, in Indianapolis, Indiana, to Leah and Kenny Loux, and was raised there, later graduating from high school. On December 23, 1954, Linda and Gerald Shipp were married. Together they built a life grounded in devotion to family, hard work, and community. In 1970, they moved to Missouri, where Linda would make many lasting professional and personal contributions. Linda was a woman of remarkable determination and versatility. She worked as an executive secretary for the president of Berger Chef and later for Sheridan Industries—a role fondly remembered as the place where her son Roger once met legendary race car driver A.J. Foyt. Long before these accomplishments, Linda had already taken on one of life’s greatest challenges, raising her three children—Roger, Charlene, and Julia—before the age of 18, with Roger and Charlene born less than a year apart. Never one to stop learning or striving, Linda later managed the bookkeeping for her husband’s construction company before attending trade school and opening her own travel agency on Fifth Street in Saint Charles, Missouri. During her time in the travel industry, Linda worked her way up to Regional Director of OSSN (Outside Sales Support Network), a testament to her leadership and professionalism. After selling the agency, she went on to work in the family business, Burger King. An interesting and lesser-known chapter of Linda’s life was her adventurous spirit—she once drove a race car in the Powder Puff Derby, an experience that perfectly reflected her confidence and willingness to try new things. Linda was deeply rooted in her faith and community. She was a devoted member of the United Methodist Church of the Shepherd, where she enjoyed worship, fellowship, social activities, and dance aerobics. She was also a proud member of the Beta Eta Sorority of ESA, dedicating significant time and energy to fundraising—primarily for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, as well as other charitable organizations. Linda also greatly enjoyed her involvement with the Kiwanis Sinawik Wives Club, particularly its fundraising efforts. As a mother, Linda consistently encouraged her children to explore new interests and talents, supporting activities such as tap dancing, piano, baton, drums, and horseback riding. She loved traveling, staying active through exercise classes, and participating in social and community events. Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Leah and Kenny Loux, and her younger brother, Danny. She is survived by her sisters Carol, Martha and Marilyn (twins), and Donna, all of Indianapolis; her children Roger, Charlene, and Julia; her grandchildren Barret, Bradley, Kenny, Jen, Heather, Mike, Kevin, Angel, Tony, Nicole, and Taylor; and her great-grandchildren Jordan, Sydney, Elle, Riley, KJ, Blake, Hazel, Jameson, and Zander. Linda Marie Shipp will be remembered for her strength, independence, generosity, and unwavering dedication to her family, faith, and community. Her legacy lives on through the many lives she touched and the generations she inspired.
